The Caribbean, the Bahamas and the Atlantic by yacht
The winter half of the charter year: the Bahamas' sandbanks, the close Virgin Islands, and the Lesser Antilles south to Grenada. December to April is the main season. Families do best in the Bahamas and Virgin Islands.
The winter half of the charter year. From December to April, when the Mediterranean season is over, the warm water is on the other side of the Atlantic: the shallow sandbanks of the Bahamas, the close green islands of the Virgin Islands, and the long arc of the Lesser Antilles south to Grenada. Each group is a different kind of week, and our first question is usually what you want from it.
Where to go
- The Bahamas. Shallow, bright water and hundreds of cays, a short flight from Florida. The Exumas are the heart of it.
- The Virgin Islands. The British and US Virgin Islands: short hops, sheltered water, beach bars. The easiest Caribbean week.
- The Leeward Islands. St Barths, St Martin, Anguilla, Antigua, St Kitts and Nevis: polished islands, the best restaurants, New Year in Gustavia.
- The Windward Islands and the Grenadines. St Lucia, Martinique, Bequia, Mustique, the Tobago Cays and Grenada: greener, wilder and more remote.
- Barbados (page to follow). An island on its own to windward, with an international airport.
- Trinidad and Tobago (page to follow). The far south of the chain, with Tobago's reefs.
- Turks and Caicos (page to follow). Shallow banks south of the Bahamas.
- The ABC Islands (page to follow). Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao, off the coast of Venezuela.
- Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica (page to follow). The larger islands of the Greater Antilles.
- Bermuda (page to follow). In the Atlantic, far north of the Caribbean.
When
- December to April for the Caribbean and the Bahamas. Christmas and New Year are the peak, and priced as such.
- May is after the high season, which runs to April, and quieter. The Bahamas and the Windward Islands still count it in their season.
- The hurricane season runs officially from 1 Jun to 30 Nov, with most activity from mid-August to mid-October. Most yachts leave for the Mediterranean or New England then.

The yachts
We arrange crewed yachts across the Caribbean, the Bahamas and the Atlantic islands. Of the yachts we show, the widest choice is in the Bahamas and the Leeward and Windward Islands, then the British and US Virgin Islands.
Many yachts cruise more than one group. The yachts on this site are a selection, not the limit of what we arrange: ask about any yacht, of any size. Our guide sets out what a crewed charter costs, line by line.
