The Mediterranean by yacht

In short

The Mediterranean is several charter seas: close Adriatic islands, the windier Aegean, the Riviera's harbours and Turkey's pine coves. June and September are the best months almost everywhere. It suits a first charter as well as a two-country week.

The Mediterranean is where most crewed charters happen, from May to October. It is not one sea but several. The Adriatic has close islands and stone towns. The Aegean is windy, with whitewashed islands. The Riviera means glamour and harbours. The Turkish coast is pine coves. Choosing between them is the first question, and our first job.

Where to go

The Adriatic

  • Croatia: a thousand islands close together, and easy for a first charter.
  • Montenegro: the Bay of Kotor, the end of a Croatian week.
  • Albania: the Albanian Riviera, wild and close to Corfu.
  • Slovenia's short coast: part of the Istria page (page to follow).

The east

  • Greece: several island seas, and the most yachts and catamarans.
  • Turkey: pine-covered gulfs and sheltered bays, with a long season.
  • Cyprus: page to follow.

The west

  • Italy: the Amalfi Coast, Sardinia, Sicily and the Riviera, with food ashore every night.
  • France: the Riviera, Monaco and Corsica.
  • Spain: the Balearics, Mallorca, Ibiza and Formentera.
  • Malta: three small islands, English-speaking, close to Sicily.
  • Monaco: on the French Riviera page for now; its own page to follow.
  • Portugal: Lisbon and the Algarve, on the Atlantic (page to follow).
Compare

When

  • June and September are the best months almost everywhere: warm sea, long evenings, fewer boats.
  • July and August are the warmest and the busiest. The meltemi blows in the Aegean then.
  • May and October are quieter and cooler, and the season is longest in Turkey, Malta and southern Greece.

The yachts

Most of the yachts we show cruise the Mediterranean. Many of them move between countries during the season, which makes one-way and two-country weeks easy to arrange. The yachts on this site are a selection, not the limit of what we arrange: ask about any yacht, of any size.
