Above & Beyond is a Sunreef sailing catamaran, and her twin hulls give her the steadiness and breadth of deck that set a catamaran apart. Inside, the interior is dressed in black and white, crisp and calm rather than showy, and every guest cabin has its own bathroom. The cockpit at the stern opens straight into the saloon, so a meal outside and a quiet hour on the sofa with the sea in view are only a few steps apart. Light comes in from all sides, and the doors can stand open to let the breeze through.
Up top, the flybridge is where much of the day tends to drift. There is a Jacuzzi to sink into after a swim, sunbeds for the hours in between, a wet bar, a barbecue and a table for eating in the open air, whether that is a late lunch or dinner beneath the stars. A Yamaha sound system carries music across the decks, and there is WiFi, with a television in the saloon and in each cabin for the evenings when guests would rather stay in.
At the stern, a hydraulic platform lowers to the waterline, turning the back of the yacht into a place to sit with your feet in the sea and slip in whenever you like. From here the toys come out: a SeaBob, a wakeboard, water skis for adults and for children, a paddleboard, a kayak, snorkeling gear, a fishing rod and, for towing, an inflatable couch, an inflatable donut and a tube. Water skis sized for children mean younger guests are provided for as well as their parents. The Highfield tender handles runs ashore and the towing.
Her crew run the yacht so that guests rarely see the effort behind it, and they take particular care over the table, from how each dish is presented to how it is laid. Yoga mats and dumbbells make it easy to keep up a morning routine on deck, while board games, from chess and backgammon to cards, Jenga and dominoes, fill a slow afternoon. She cruises in Greece, where the calm of a catamaran at anchor suits days built around swimming, sailing and long meals.
