AD ASTRA is a sailing catamaran in which nearly every part of the deck leads somewhere pleasant. At her stern, a short flight of steps descends to a beach club only a little above the waterline, a place to swim from, to dry off in the sun or to launch the toys. The aft cockpit above it draws people together around a generous table, with sunbeds and several seating corners for long meals and slower afternoons. On both sides, balconies lower outward and become terraces, widening the cockpit and bringing in more air and light, with a raised outlook across the anchorage.
Forward, there is a second cockpit with a bar of its own and a broad sunbed concealing a Jacuzzi, so a soak can follow a spell in the sun without moving far. Up on the flybridge, another whole deck lies open to the sky, wrapped by a long sofa where everyone can sit together, with a bar and a plancha grill close at hand. Dinner here runs easily into the evening and a look at the stars. The bimini offers shade in the heat of the day, a BBQ and a deck shower are on hand, and device hookups let you bring your own music.
Because the galley is set below, the saloon stays quiet and open. Deep sofas run along the starboard side, free-standing seats sit to port, and each has a small table for a drink or a book. Glass rises from the floor to the ceiling around it, so the sea is never out of sight. A salon TV, WiFi and board games, including chess, backgammon and UNO, fill the slower hours. Her Silent Night capability lets her keep generator noise to a minimum, which leaves the dark hours and the early light to the sound of water and wind.
Her toys suit guests who want to be active on the water: a SeaBob and a Jet Ski, a wakeboard, an adult monoski and adult water skis, along with a paddleboard and a kayak, a fishing rod and snorkeling equipment, with the inflatable donut and inflatable couch for lazier moments. The Highfield tender takes everyone ashore. For exercise there are gym bands, a dumbbell and a yoga mat. She cruises in Greece, and her professional crew look after the table, the toys and the passage between anchorages, leaving guests to decide only how each day should feel.
