About her

A catamaran named for Aphaia, with a flybridge terrace and a galley-up saloon

APHAEA is a sailing catamaran that takes her name from Aphaia, the goddess, and her days are lived on open decks fore, aft and above. The flybridge is where most guests settle first. There is sunbathing space, generous seating and a terrace that seems to hang above the sea, ideal for watching her under sail. At the bow, a cushioned lounge sits in the breeze, a good spot for a book or a quiet drink at anchor. Aft, the cockpit is laid for meals outdoors and for lingering at the table long after the plates have gone.

Inside, the saloon is modern and bright, with a calm, uncluttered feel. Because the galley is up on the main level, the chef cooks in full view, and guests can talk across the counter, watch a dish come together or simply take in the passing coastline while she is under way. Below, the owner's suite is joined by guest cabins with queen beds, and every cabin has its own bathroom. With no cabin treated as an afterthought, she suits couples travelling together who would each like equal comfort, while the owner's suite gives one pair a little more room to themselves.

The captain, the chef and the hostess work as one small team. The captain plans each passage and each anchorage, the chef keeps the table, and the hostess sees to the rest, so that guests need think only about where to swim next. In Greece, she cruises the Aegean and the Ionian. Her twin hulls give a steady platform once the anchor is down, which makes a morning swim, a long lunch on deck and an evening outside under the sky feel natural rather than planned.

When she stops, the water toys come out. The Seabob draws guests beneath the surface, while the Highfield tender pulls a Jobe Vanity wakeboard, fitted with Maze boots, the Jobe Allegre Combo Waterskis, the adult water skis, the Jobe Lunar Towable and the tube. For slower hours there are paddleboards, including the Aqua Marina Fusion All-Around ISUP, kayaks, among them the Aqua Marina Steam, as well as floating mats, snorkelling equipment and a fishing rod. Back aboard, there is WiFi, a TV and a sound system, a BBQ on deck and a gym.
