Explorion is a catamaran whose decks are arranged around two pleasures: getting into the sea and lingering afterwards. Aft, the stern platform lowers towards the water, so stepping in for a swim or climbing out after one takes no effort at all. Above, the flybridge carries its own open cinema, a projected screen for evenings at anchor, with removable sunshades that come away once the heat leaves the day. Her crew run the yacht, the galley and the tender, which leaves guests free to choose between the water, the shade and a cold drink.
The platform is also where the toys begin. A Seabob draws swimmers along just under the surface. The Highfield tender, with its Yamaha engine, pulls the water ski and the wakeboard, and gives the Tube and the Towable Tube their turn. Calmer hours suit the paddleboard and the floating mats, laid out on the water beside the hull, while snorkeling equipment opens up the rocks and sand of each anchorage, and a fishing rod waits for anyone content to sit still. The same tender carries guests ashore whenever a beach or a harbour calls.
Indoors, a widescreen TV and satellite TV share the salon with a stereo and iPod/device hookups. The large salon table folds and rises or drops in height, so it serves a seated dinner as readily as a slow drink late in the evening. A wine cooler sits alongside an ice maker, and WiFi is there for whoever wants it. Each cabin has a TV and a soundbar of its own, so a guest who prefers an early night with a film can have one without drawing anyone away from the deck. Solar panels quietly add to her power.
What makes her right for a particular party is the way she lets people want different things from the same day. Her cabins each offer a private retreat with screen and sound; her toys reach from gentle floating mats to the Seabob and the wakeboard; and the lowering platform makes the sea as easy for a hesitant swimmer as for a confident one. In Greece she cruises the Aegean, Ionian, Saronic and Sporades, and her crew shape each day around swims, lunches at anchor and time ashore.
