OAK is an Italian-built motor yacht of quiet, settled character, refitted and kept with obvious care. Her hull is semi-displacement, which gives a steady, economical passage and a motion that stays comfortable at the table and in the cabins. She carries her volume generously, so the saloon and the decks never feel tight, and the doors between them open easily onto the air. Guests drift between shade and sun, inside and out, without ceremony. Before long she stops feeling like a machine and starts to feel like a well-run house on the water.
Inside, the light does much of the work. The décor is contemporary and restrained, finished in soft colours that keep the mood calm whether you are reading after lunch or gathering before dinner. The master suite lies on the main deck and runs across her full beam, giving its occupants privacy, room and daylight on both sides. The remaining cabins combine double beds with cabins of separate beds, so parents, children and older relatives can each be placed where it suits them, and nobody has to share in a way they would rather not.
Her water toys are chosen with every age in mind. Adults and children each have waterskis of their own size, and there is a monoski, a wakeboard and a Hydroflyer for those who want more of a challenge. Quieter hours belong to the SUP, the tubes, the inflatable sofa and the inflatable platform, and to snorkelling equipment for the clear water around an anchorage. The Iaqua and Sublue sea scooters pull swimmers along beneath the surface, and there is an electric scooter as well. Where she cruises in Greece, that means long swims and lazy lunches between passages to the next bay.
Her crew run the yacht so that guests need think about very little. A chef cooks for the people actually on board, adjusting each meal to their tastes, and the service is attentive and unobtrusive. The tender carries guests ashore to a beach or a harbour and collects them when they are ready. Back aboard, the Jacuzzi suits the warm end of a day in the water, the stationary bike keeps a morning routine intact, and the drone records the coast and the yacht from above. The tone throughout is polished but unpretentious, which is precisely why she is easy to live aboard.
