OVAL is a motor yacht whose spaces seem drawn for a larger vessel. Her exterior decks open out broadly as soon as you come aboard, and inside, daylight reaches well into the saloon, where colour is used with restraint and the rooms feel fresh rather than formal. She was refitted, and the work shows in a clean, contemporary finish. As a planing yacht she covers ground briskly between anchorages, yet she is just as settled when the engines fall quiet and the day is given over to the deck and the water.
Much of the day drifts upward, to a sun deck of real breadth for a yacht of her kind. A hardtop throws shade across it when the sun is high, so meals can move outdoors from the first coffee through a slow lunch to dinner beneath a dark sky. Lower down, the on deck Jacuzzi offers a warm place to sit and watch the anchorage, while the beach club brings guests down to the level of the sea, with loungers close enough to slip straight in for a swim.
She carries plenty to do in the water. A Seadoo RXP jet ski and a Seabob offer speed and play, while the Jobe Brabus X Shadow SUP Surfs suit a quieter paddle along the shore. Water ski, wakeboard and towable toys keep an afternoon lively, and snorkelling equipment opens up whatever lies beneath the hull. A Williams jet tender runs guests to the beach or into port, and her shallow draft lets her lie nearer to land than her size might suggest.
With so much of her given to open deck, the Jacuzzi and the beach club, she rewards guests who like to spend their days outside and in the sea, and those who would rather read in the shade have the hardtop to retreat beneath. Her professional crew look after the running of each day, from the table to the toys, so that nothing interrupts its rhythm. In Greece, where she cruises, that means long hours at anchor, swims taken straight from the beach club and meals that linger on deck.
