SAMARA is named for the sycamore's winged seed, and she travels in the same spirit: steadily, economically and without fuss. She rides on twin hulls, which give her a broad, stable stance and an interior volume few guests expect from the quayside. A shallow draft lets her slip closer inshore than many motor yachts, and solar power and cork decks are among her quieter refinements. She was refitted, and she pairs real comfort with an appetite for the water, whether she is cruising the Greek islands or lying quietly at anchor in a sheltered bay.
Aft, a sheltered table brings everyone together for meals in the open air, with a barbecue grill and a bar alongside for coffee in the morning or a drink before dinner. Indoors, the saloon is open plan: a galley with stools at its counter, then a comfortable lounge with a television that stays out of sight until it is wanted. A few steps down, a second lounge sits snugly below, its fireplace drawing people in on a cooler evening. A Control 4 audio system supplies the music, and a long list of board games, from Chess and Scrabble to Cranium and Jenga, fills the quieter hours.
The master suite occupies the forward part of the main deck, its windows bringing daylight and the sea in across its width. Double basins, a walk-in wardrobe and a shower with its own steam sauna make it a private retreat, and a glass door leads straight out to a Jacuzzi deck screened on both sides, with loungers for reading in the sun. The guest cabins lie in the hulls, each with its own bathroom, air conditioning and hairdryer; one adds a Pullman berth above its double, which suits a younger traveller. The arrangement gives a couple a suite well apart from the rest of the party.
On the flybridge, cabanas and sunbeds offer shade or sun at will, and after dark a large screen and a popcorn machine make an open-air cinema of it. The swim platform drops hydraulically to sea level and, set out with cushions and chairs, becomes a beach club. From here guests take out the SeaDoo Spark, E-foil, Sea Bob and Sea Scooter, paddle the Kayak, SUP or Inflatable Paddle Board, ski, wakeboard or ride the Big Mable towable, and drift on the Floating Island. Snorkeling gear, fishing gear, beach toys, yoga mats and the North Star tender round out her equipment.
